Why Cover your hair ????‏

Two Muslim girls in a classroom – one wearing a Hijab; the other one without.
The girl with no scarf – eager to have a laugh began to gossip and shout…

“Take off your headscarf – lets see the length of your hair…
Go on just this once – it’s only a dare!”

The girl with the Hijab looked back and proudly replied…
“There is no chance that I’ll let 14 devils float by my side”

The other girl scoffed still wanting to have fun…
“So you’re prepared to roast under the burning sun??”

“Yes – because the heat right now means nothing to me;
It is the hell fire which is extremely scary”

Girl with no scarf – still wanting to say more…
“Why are you wearing it? What is the purpose for?”

“Allah will keep evil and punishment away from me….
This Hijab is there in my life for security…
I love and value my faith – which is why I cover my head”
Smiling the girl in the Hijab had said.

The other girl tensed – but not showing she’s feeling bad….
“Why not show everyone your beauty – once you have, you’ll feel ever so glad!”

“The beauty is inside me – where Islam is growing in my heart…
…appreciating Allah is the way for a happy start!”

At this point, the girl with no Hijab had nothing else left to say…
She knew that the other girl was always joyful and confident each and every day.
She realised that this Sister in Hijab will always remain pure and never will walk in shame….
The girl with no scarf knew she wanted to be exactly the same.

This is why, when she went home – she made a very big decision.
She realised that loving Allah can put you in such a wonderful position.

In the classroom, the next day – this girl was wearing her Hijab for the first ever time – feeling so proud…
Looked at the other girl whom she had made fun of before had said out loud…

“Oh sister of Islam – forgive me for the things I have said….
Seeing the love you hold for our religion has today made me cover my head…
Your sweet and caring words that you so dearly expressed…
Made me see how Islam has given you so much respect

I know that Allah will gift those who follow Islam….
Wearing my Hijab – I know that I will be safe from any harm.

Thank you My Sister – for you who I now admire and congratulate
Together as Muslims, we should aim to reach Jannat’s Gates.”

The first girl – amazed, had happiness all over her face
Smiled with love and gave the Sister a lot of praise.
“Marshallah Sister – Indeed Allah will purify your heart and your deen…
Continue love for our faith and in Heaven we will be seen…
Wearing the Hijab – we will always stay as the ‘Respected
Girl’….

And to Allah we will be known as the ‘Concealed Pearl!’

  6. WHY should women cover anything up to feel SAFE?? safe from what? The muslim man? if you are muslim does it mean you can’t control yourself if you see a womans hair?? I know other men can, so why shouldn’t a muslim man be able to!

Yeah touching a girl with no cover up is okay?? This disgusts me.

Being pure has nothing to do with wearing a scarf and women shouldn’t have to cover anything up – we are as we were created – and being pure and beautiful comes from within – not from a scarf.

      Hello Mary
you know your name is called “Maryam” in Arabic, our beloved one who brought Jesus our prophet to life by the will of God 🙂

      Anyway ,

First of all, in Christianity you have nuns. Those women submit their life for God, they cover up just to satisfy him and to do everything for their religion. That means in Christianity there is a “veil” and the concept of covering up is found. Even when you google the image of “Virgin Mary” you will realize that all the pictures that comes up shows that she’s actually wearing a scarf and covered up. Also, in the Bible its stated about modesty and covering up, yet not all Christians practice their religion correctly, exactly like Muslims that some doesn’t practice their religion correctly. Modesty is found in Islam, Christianity and also Judaism.

In Islam its exactly the same concept. We have the opportunity to cover or not to cover. We are not forced and it starts from the heart. Why? This is beacause we are submitting our life to God. We are covering up for our creator and it should start from inside. We should be modest from the inside and the outside. There are number of Muslim women who cover up and inside they’ve got hate and they do not dress properly. Its not only about men, and that’s what you’re focusing on.

Why feeling safe? Because women should not be just a piece of meat. She shouldn’t be something to market for products, to make it look beautiful just to satisfy men, to look at every part of her body just for mens eyes. After all these men get all the woman they want even if you looked beautiful, he will find someone whos more beautiful than you. Yet in Islam, a woman is like a diamond, she’s respected, she is given her rights and much more.
( Im talking about Islam as a religion and how a woman is treated in this religion, NOT what all people actually do.)

In Islam, woman when getting married, the man should give her the ” maher ” which is obligatory to give money for the woman. She has the right to choose to work or not. She can stay home and sit like a queen while her husband work to earn money for her and their children. (That’s because a woman is created sensitive not like the man.) Its also obligatory for the husband to give her money to buy herself anything she wants and she doesn’t even take one coin out of her pocket. The man is like her prince charming, the only man that touched her, that respected her as a beautiful lady and not just a piece of meat he saw on the street, he protects her from any harm, he spends his money on her. He takes her car to the garage, he picks up all those heavy groceries. SHES A QUEEN.

But of course you will say,, YEAAH that’s why your father hits you and your husband gets his gun and swears to kill you if you don’t wear the scarf. That’s TOTALLY funny, and when I hear these kind of stuff, I would keep on laughing for such lack of knowledge. Here I am, I studied in an English school, an American University and yes im covered up and im NOT ignorant.. and YES im an Arab. My older sister she is NOT covered up, she’s married and here she is NOT KILLED, she works, she travels and even go out with friends. Lol hilarious. Still people keep on saying that we are oppressed and we’re doing this for men??? Not for God??? Yes I admit that men are one of those reasons because I really don’t want to be a beautiful product for all men. I want to be this Queen that a king will ask for her hands and protect her like a diamond rather than being a piece of rubbish that men will throw into trash cans every now and then. My body, my heart and my love will be for my KING. : )

      Sorry for this LOOONNGGG reply.
      thank you for your comment
      May God protect you Ameen.

  7. Muslimah,
Asalaamu Alaikum, sister. May Allah bless you for your beautiful words. I am an American revert. I was raised in a feminist Christian household, and I wear the hijab full time with pride. May Allah strengthen the iman of all those who strive to obey Him. Amin.

    • Muslimah Says:

      Salam Hubna,

Your comment have put a smile on my face. Im so happy to hear that you’re a revert. I will pray for Allah to help you through life and grant you paradise Ameen.

May heart feels like… there are birds flying around, when I know a new person had entered Islam. I thank God that people are reading and trying to gain knowledge.

I once travelled to Mecca and when I finished praying, I met this beautiful girl that was sitting next to me. She was a revert too 🙂 from the UK. She told me that
she got one of the rare diseases in the world and she was looking for a religion to help her spiritually. Until she read about Islam and converted. My tears just dropped so suddenly and she started crying too. We hugged each other and I told her welcome to Islam.. and I tell you with all my heart ” welcome to Islam”.

And she told me something I will never forget, which I will write for you ..

” If we didn’t meet in life, May Allah bring us together in Janna Ameen” .

May Allah protect you and strengthen your iman.

  13. MAshaAllah..thanks for this lovely post 🙂

  14. This is very nice indeed. In all honesty covering you hair does not make you a better Muslim then one who does not cover her hair. there are many hijab woman who dress inappropriately and wear makeup and draw attention to themselves they dont pray or fast or make zakka, yet they are looked upon as faith following . why? how?. there are many woman who dont wear hijab and dress very respectably and do there prayers fast and pay zakka yet they are frowned upon why?? because of hair? how ignorant of us. The prophet Muhammad pbuh. said ” You are judged on your intentions”. there is sooo much more to our Beautiful religion then if a woman should or should not cover there hair. Plz people…. look deeper. It didn’t start with hair and it wont finish with hair. Covering your hair doesn’t make you more a Muslim then the sister who doesn’t. Islam is about so much more. to focus on one thing so excessively is wrong. sisters open mindedness and tolerance is a branch of Islam. A woman of faith is not just one who covers her hair. It is one is patiently, forgiving, honest, puts all her trust and faith in God. Reads the words of the holy Quran. and the words of the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH. who accepts what ALLAH puts in her path and thanks and praises ALLAH for everything good and bad. who follows the pillars of islam. and soo much more. Not just hair. Not hair woman not hair!!!!!!!

    • Salam Noura,

I really respect your point of view and respect who you are, wethr you wear a hijab or not.

However, i agree that theres alot of women out there who dont really wear the hijab the correct way, and they might be not good from the inside! But that doesnt mean that all women that wear the hijab are the same? And it doesnt mean that hijab is the problem so thats why i shouldnt wear it! You know what I mean? Can I say that there are alot of Muslims that pray but after praying they go drink and make all these bad acts so why should I pray? Praying is not the problem.. Its the people themselves! Islam is there for you, praying is there, hijab is there.. And its you who decide.. To be Muslim from the inside and outside.. I shouldnt judge a religion or aspects from this religion by others bad actions!

If you believe in Allah and His words.. You will wear hijab for Him.. Because he ordered us to wear it in the Quran.. But when you wear it .. It should be for Allah and because you’re good from inside! I dont care what others do i pray for them to change to the better.. But i care about myself because each one of us will be alone in his/her grave! Life doesnt concern me if there is alot who dont respect their hijab… I really hope Allah will take them to the right path before its too late.

Question: why do you cover your self when you pray? Why do you believe that the Quran is the word of Allah but you believe some of its words and leave others? Why think of others and forget yourself? Will you take others with you to janna or jahanam?

Its you who decide what your hereafter wants to be.. Its you who will face Allah.. Its you who will take your own good deeds.. Dont think alot about others my dear sister.. Dont go around looking for the (wrong hijab girl)… Find the good ones.. And be proud that you’re a Muslim even if there are some of us who dont practice it the correct way! In each and every religion there are the good and bad..

Find the words of Allah and follow it.. God gave us alot and we should thank him..

islam is a one whole good package.. From (neya), faith, trust, truth, love, peace… Praying, fasting, and even the way you look and how you smell and being clean.. Its a box filled with good stuff

If you believe in Allah, His Quran and Prophet Mohammed ascyou said.. You will Act upon Allahs words and His Prophet

thank you so much for your comment and sorry for the long reply my sweet sister 🙂
